Americans - do you see why people around the world hate you? Try this: if you are Jewish, imagine your feelings if Iranians in full battledress were lounging around your synagogue, even in the places that you consider the holiest.
I have seen other photos of folks in Mosul mopping up huge pools of blood at a mosque after a bombing by terrorists. I do not see the blood of innocent Iraqis under the feet of the American soldiers in the Fallujah mosque in the picture you have posted. It looks like a peaceful place, although apparently damaged. Perhaps they were uplifted spiritually by the time they spent there.
Buildings and places are not holy in and of themselves, I think, only god and the worthy deeds of men can make a place holy.
You fail to mention that this 'holy place' was a bunker and armory that also served as a sniper post. Who defiled the 'holy place'? According to international law, it ceased to be a 'holy place' when it became headquarters for the headcutters. I have heard stories of how the barbarians use mosques as shields when women and children aren't readily available. They know our weakness. The US troops should have leveled the site, but I will bet they turned it over with a handshake and a wad of money to restore it to headcutter's headquarters once again in the best traditions of the place.
B werd is right! Oh Yeah by the way being a holy site doesn't mean squat to muslims when it happen to be a Christian church as they used or most holy site the Church of the Nativity as a hide out in Jerusalem a few years ago if I recall. OK Islam is a major religion and so is Christianity and Hinduism, Buddism and Judaism. Stop acting so sanctimonious about Islam. Muslims have no problem blaspheming every other religion so deal with it.

That is a very shocking picture.
