I've had the good fortune to visit Versailles (the palace and grounds, not the city, although we walked through the city from the train) twice. The grounds are so beautiful, especially in the fall, when the leaves turn color. I bought all the books they had for sale in English, and a good thing too, because one of my colleagues, who teaches French lanaguage and culture at a university, taught an entire semester course on Versailles the next year, and he used them to prepare. I would have loved to have taken that course, but had to work.
